WEST CUMBRIA MOTORSPORT CLUB

Our motorsport club was formed when West Cumberland Motorsport Club and Workington and District Motorsport clubs merged back in the mid 90's, but West Cumberland Motorsport Club dates back to the early 1900's when it was know as the West Cumberland Cycle Club. The club was then reformed after the war, and in 1923 was renamed West Cumberland Motorcycle Club and enjoyed many years organising small trials and event's.

It was in the 60's when the club started to get noticed and changed the name again to West Cumberland Motorsport Club as it was now organising Stage (Fellside Stages) and Night Events (Peak Revs). When the Two club's merged the Workington and District Motorclub were running the Derwent Stages, and under our new Club Name ran this up until sadly the foot and mouth struck Cumbria. Unfortunately for us the burial site for the cattle was where we held the Derwent Stages Rally and we had lost our event to this awful tragedy .

After many years of looking we finally found a venue for our next Rally, The Greystoke Stages and now we are into our third year of organising this event, the only single venue forest rally in Cumbria. It is held in the Forest were the Ford WRC team test their cars which is in a small village just before Penrith. It is probably one of the smoothest forests around.

We also have brought to Cumbria the Autosolo and again are into our third year on running a Three round Autosolo Championship.

We also organise such event's as Twelve cars, Scatters, Autotests, and Treasure Hunt's all of which are explained on other web pages, we have a Club Championship and you are automatically entered into this when you join the Club.

The club magazine which is produced every month and can be either sent to you via e-mail or you can have it posted to you, this will keep you informed of what the club is doing, it also will have reports and news from other club members

We hold Meetings every month at the Sheep and Wool Centre, which is just outside Cockermouth on the A66 and if you have read other pages on this site (events) it will keep you up to date on every thing we do.
